High Pressure in Turning: Efficiency and Energy Savings

Innovation and excellence have always been at the core of IEMCA's philosophy. In 2022, the company took a further step forward by expanding its range with an innovative series of high-pressure systems for coolant management in turning, designed to improve the efficiency and performance of sliding headstock lathes.

The new IEMCA high-pressure coolant unit, designed and manufactured entirely in-house, addresses and resolves the needs of end-users, offering a high-quality and technologically advanced solution.

IEMCA chose to develop these systems internally to meet the growing demands of the turning sector. Increasingly, the integration of a high-pressure unit into the bar feeder layout is requested, but the use of third-party products can lead to potential complications during installation.

Thanks to its experience in bar turning and consolidated know-how, IEMCA has been recognized as an ideal partner by numerous lathe manufacturers for the development of innovative high-pressure solutions.

The Features of IEMCA's High-Pressure Coolant Systems

The design of IEMCA's high-pressure systems for coolants has been developed along four main lines: control and reduction of energy consumption, perfect integration with the bar feeder, simplified maintenance, and maximum flexibility.

In particular, IEMCA has focused on developing solutions aimed at energy savings and reducing environmental impact. The company has paid special attention to Industry 5.0 requirements, focusing on the introduction of advanced and sustainable technologies that not only improve operational efficiency but also promote more ecological and responsible production. This commitment is reflected in the design of high-pressure coolant units that optimize energy use and reduce waste, contributing to a more sustainable future for the manufacturing industry.

Sustainability and Energy Savings towards Industry 5.0

The IEMCA high-pressure coolant unit is a low-energy consumption product designed to optimize operation and reduce waste. Specifically, the Blue Line 100 high-pressure coolant system uses a variable flow pump, which pressurizes—and thus heats—only the amount of oil strictly necessary for the lathe during machining.

This allows for at least a 50% reduction in consumption compared to a traditional unit, avoiding energy waste during the heating or cooling phase of the coolant. The IEMCA high-pressure coolant unit is also equipped with a consumption control kit, viewable on the bar feeder's operator panel, to monitor the power consumption.

IEMCA is also finalizing new solutions to further increase energy savings through alternative, flexible, and customized configurations of the high-pressure coolant unit based on the customer's individual production needs.
